Sheryl was in a sprint ever since she left the ship when it docked in Boron. She had to make it to Lily Valley. She had to see if there was anything left. Tears left her eyes the further she ran as the worst case scenario played through her head. She tried calling her parents, friends, or anyone who might know what was left in Lily Valley. She needed to know. She needed to make sure the Pokemon were okay.
Sheryl slowed down after her side began to cramp until she was standing entirely still. She hunched over to catch her breath and wipe tears from her face. She couldn't let anyone see her like this. She needed to be strong. Iona needed help and losing her cool wasn't going to help anything. She knew this all too well. She took a deep breath and sighed slowly. She readjusted her ponytail and scrunched her face with a determined look. She looked around, trying to assess the situation clearly. She'd need Pokemon to help her. Especially with Rockets still on the loose and Legendary Pokemon torching everything.

A red-haired girl had entered Route 1 with tears running down her eyes. Emolga did not like that. It made Emolga worry. Emolga decided to approach this girl to see if Emolga could help her. Emolga was a bit scared of humans but knew that they weren't all scary. It wasn't often that Emolga saw them and this human didn't wear the uniform that the scary people did. Emolga slowly walked toward the girl as her face began to change from sad to determined. Emolga was confused. Was the human not sad? What was happening. Emolga looked at her and made a friendly squeak in hopes of getting the girl's attention.

'Squeak!'
Sheryl turned at the sudden noise, snapping her out of her pained expression. She quickly noticed an Emolga of all things staring at her with sympathetic eyes. Sheryl gave it a warm smile and crouched down, resting her arms on her thighs. "Hey there pal. I'm Sheryl. I'm on my way across the island. I am in a bit of a hurry. I need to make sure my parents and the Pokemon of Lily Valley are safe. There are a lot of scary people on this island so you should be careful, Emolga." Sheryl had no intentions of forcing this sweet little Pokemon to fight. Especially with such a large amount of stress being pushed on Iona right now. She felt nothing but worry and sympathy for Iona's Pokemon and needed to protect them. "I am heading to Lilly Valley and I am in a bit of a rush so I hope that you don't mind me heading out now. I'm really sorry. It's just...the island...and my parents..." Sheryl's eyes began to fill with tears. She fought them back in an attempt to keep Emolga from becoming frightened. Sheryl knew that the island would need to be strong and not give in to fear if it had any chance of ridding Team Rocket from the island and restoring the environment to what it once was. It was all so daunting...

The human was saying a lot of things to Emolga but Emolga couldn't sense any danger. The lady seemed to have Pokeballs but wasn't throwing them at Emolga like other trainers did. Emolga liked this girl. Emolga smiled back at the girl who seemed to be ready to leave. Emolga squeaked at her some more and walked over to her. Emolga began climbing up the girl and onto her head, nestling into her hair. Emolga squeaked happily and this girl seemed to want to help Emolga. Hopefully the girl would be friends with Emolga and wouldn't leave Emolga behind.

Before she could react, Sheryl had the electric mouse Pokemon in her hair. Sheryl laughed and wrapped her fingers around the small electric mouse, attempting to pull it out of her hair carefully. She would then go to set the electric mouse down before saying, "Aren't you friendly? I'm really sorry, friend. I would love to play with you some more but I really need to get going. I'm in quite a rush. You can come along with me if you'd like, but I am going to be travelling to the other side of the island and that may be a little far for you..." Sheryl smiled sheepishly, trying to let the little critter know that she would be leaving. She slowly began to back away from the small electric Pokemon with a smile.

The girl hoisted Emolga off her head and set Emolga back to the ground. Emolga frowned as the girl began to back away from it. Did the girl not want to be its friend? Emolga would give her no choice but to take Emolga with her! Emolga sprang forward and began to swoop around her through the air. Emolga was looking for any Pokeball the girl might have. Emolga latched onto her bag and began pulling things out until it found a shiny red and white ball. It smacked the center with its little hand and was suddenly sucked inside. It shook three times before it stopped with a click!

The Emolga had begun to, what seemed to seem like, attack Sheryl. Sheryl let out a little yelp before Emolga found its way into her bag. Sheryl went to grab the Pokemon but it had made its way into one of her empty Pokeballs. Sheryl had just caught her first Pokemon on the island without even trying. She was flabbergasted. She simply picked up Emolga's ball, clipped it to her belt with Cyndaquil's, and began sprinting toward Ample Forest with a smile on her face and a new friend at her side.
