Chatot was quickly silenced by Alix’s death-glare but more out of confusion than fear; such was the peril of only being able to repeat people’s words, misunderstandings were commonplace. The bird was only trying to help and hadn’t said anything about her at all…unless she was hiding something. The fact that her little monkey partner echoed its trainer’s over reaction only made Chatot more suspicious, so much so that Chatot completely missed the obvious fact that Aki wasn’t acting scared of this new girl even in the slightest so the chances of her being dangerous to the poor girl was slim to none. Zeke thankfully had noticed this and currently his greatest worry was that his bird partner was about to start a war.
Sadly Chatot wasn’t the only one; having been ignored by everyone for quite some time Zeke’s Joltik had been content to watch things from the sidelines until a certain Aipom started badmouthing his friend. Then the tiny bug sprang into action, bouncing in so as to divert Riley’s gaze from the parrot to itself and standing about halfway between the two. Oblivious to the fact that his opponent was about 8x taller, Joltik channeled his inner Charizard and let out a warning growl ~Joltik! Jolt Jolt!~
Joltik said something to the extent of ‘You leave them alone!’ but Zeke knew that look; fur bristled up and sparks dancing from its body, there was going to be trouble. Given the already volatile nature of things, adding any more fuel to the fire would cause things to turn really ugly really fast.
“Hey-hey-hey!” Zeke darted forward grabbing the furry yellow baseball before he could get too charged up, though his arm went a bit numb for touching the electrified spider Zeke didn’t let go but instead held it up to eye level and scolded, “None of that, we’ve got more important things to do than picking a fight.”
~Jolt…~
Joltik reluctantly agreed and Zeke let him go, but made sure he stayed close by and away from the cranky monkey. That just left the noisy bird to deal with, “And you…”
Zeke plucked the still fluttering Chatot out of the air like a fruit from a tree and plopped the bird down to his usual perch on Zeke’s shoulder “…just chill a minute so we can figure things out.”
Right about then Aki let the proverbial flood gates loose. As much as Zeke was still confused about what exactly was going on, as he told Joltik, there were more important things going on, and the girl came first so for the time being Zeke stayed quiet conent to let the two girls have their moment. He felt Chatot sulk a little, perhaps feeling guilty that his blabbing had somehow helped to cause this sad scene but a reassuring scratch on the chin from his trainer helped perk Chatot up some.
